Islandpeople - Heroes Review 2K12

Islandpeople after postponing their launch last week held their launch in Bowen Marine. Rumours were that their costumes were the most out of the box or different costume for the season and this was so true. Their launch began at approximately 1:00am. The music wasn't strictly soca but the techno wasn't that annoying as in previous launches. The crowd was definitely moving, once again proving that IP is the party band.

To begin the review we'll start wit:

Kaimana


Lots of female options were offered for this section which was designed by Sonia Mack. No bling or feathers were used in this section. I love the shade of blue but to be honest the costume is not appealing to the eyes. Its not the worse section but its not the best. The male costume is utterly ridiculous and hideous.

Nocturnal

Too many clashing colours were used but it was definitely fierce and creative. Fierceness was all over this costume but its sort of way out of the box for the Bikini, Beads and Feathers masqueraders. The male costume sigh.

Solar Flare

That spandex monokini is horrible. It looks goofy and more sidekick than hero. The leg warmers are a complete turn off, the belt on the first picture is scarce. What the hell is wrong with the belt on the non-spandex monokini option and the monokini itself is to thin. This male looks like a gym suit and just looks like its trying very hard.

Oya

One of the best costumes in the whole presentation. It looks Storm-ish from X-Men. The monokini is well done and the contrasting colour on the head piece brings it out. The warmers on this model actually don't look so bad, maybe because it was decorated. The bikini option also stands out and the half corset version was well decorated and the backpack is pretty cool although those spikes might cause damage on the road. Only prob;em is to remove the cape from the model. The cape should be an option.

Wild heart

Two different colour options were offered for this section. The pink and black gives a Zune feel somehow. The pink version lacks a belt as the gold option does have have one. The one sided cape is pretty fierce. When it comes to the larger option, the gold stands out the most. The male for this section is the best of the whole collection. So different and sticking to the theme like the female.

Element


The monokini on this option is fierce just the panty part needed to be decorated a little more. The shoulder pads give off the Heroes theme and the no feather headpiece is very creative and different however the other version of this costume baffles me. The shorts remind me of a Monday wear shorts that can be purchased in Micles. I totally get that designers wanted to try something besides the bikini but this execution isn't favourable. Also the mini corset would only look good on certain body types. The male is ok. Too much is going on in the headpiece region but too little in the chest piece region.

Velocity

Too much is going on and too many colours are. The bottoms are under-decorated and the leg warmers were very off and once again I hope they remove this as an option. Just look at the male in the picture. Any need to comment?

Fiyah

Costume looks sort of cheap and the feathers look out of place. Its like earthy costume meets showgirl backpack and head piece. The male is totally off.

Kalypso 


Nice style of the wire bra and well decorated. The colours remind me of D Krewe tempo. The spikes on the headpiece is not a plus and the belt could do wit more beads hanging. The backline headpiece design is cool. The bra is well decorated. As for the male.. PINK SHORTS?

Siren

Loving the colours of the feathers.The bra looks like Vega from this year Shades of the Universe. This is one of the standouts in the collection as it is more on the traditional side. The male looks out of place in relation to the female.

Scarlet I

As already stated red is my colour of choice for this year and this one definitely impressed me. The frontline is very traditional, sexy and hot!!! Those wings are wicked. The belt is designed to the last gem. The bra is WOW. Very different. Loving the feathered bras for the other options. No leg warmers and you get the best section in the collection. The male is ok.

After IP launched fans and haters all showed their their disapproval of this collection with few who were pleased via their facebook fan page but the topic is, people beg for different, they get different, so whats the problem now? As for the males, I hope that those short tights are not the only options available and board shorts should also be an option.

Top choices for Islandpeople mas are: Scarlet I, Siren and Oya.

Fantasy - Book of Angels Review 2k12

Fantasy, a new band is now on the Carnival Scene. One thing before I begin this review I would like to start off by saying is that the launch was strictly soca, so my musical buds were delighted and felt the carnival spirit, well until the actual launch began and all sort of techno began which is confusing. The launch began approximately at 12:28 and let me just say Fantasy blew me away.

To begin we have the section:

Angels- Individual

Wings=WOW! Those are how wings are made, really! Perfect angle height and evrything. Bra style and design is fierce and the use of colour is 'angelic'. Like the gladiator-ish leg gear but the colour is such a great contrast it's an eye sore. Jewellery is very flexible also.

Frontline

Nice wings but something went wrong seems more rough than elegant to the top. Love the blinged out headband/tiara. The bra is well decorated and doesn't look like designers was hurrying doing it and the belt is more attention grabbing than the individual.

Backline

Like the headpice looks like a crown! Belt is cute not sure how i feel bout the hanging jewels though it looks nice but jumbled at the same time and the bra is well decorated once again. One of the most refreshing backlines for the season thus far.

Male

Website pics show no chest piece, here they try to do a chest piece.. WTF!!! everything else is generic


Arch Angels- Frontline

Backpack is amazing! It makes the shoulder/neck area look soft even with the excessive use of feather. Only one problem about the backpack is that it reminds me of Pieces. Headband is truly a crown..talk bout bling! The wired bra looks like a snowflake and the belt like ice crystals which is really nice to look at beautiful work! Lots of feathers and used properly.

Backline

Gawwwjussss headpiece! Love the colour and the beading on it. Nicely beaded bra but would have preferred that much beads on the belt than on the bra itself...with this costume however I guess that much beads on that blingy a belt would be too much. Love how the footpiece is just not a band around the foot for the backline also.

Male

Like the colour but besides that its pretty normal.

Authorities- Individual

Just want to say red is most likely our crews choice of colour this year and this costume has us thinking. Individual is amazing, althought it looks Victoria Secret-ish it still works. Bra is outter world bess, uniquely designed and decorated. Headpiece and Wings.... JUST WOW. Jewellry is really cute and the belt has me speechless.

Frontline

As said before red is our colour. Headpiece for fl is wicked and different. The choker for the neck looks a bit uncomfortable but the bra is besss. However, the belt looks like its missing something.

Backline

Hate that the bl is missin some red especially in the area of the bra but its pretty though. Same comments apply to fl and bl belt.

Male

Red is the colour again for this year, and the waistband is different but the chest piece looks like YUMA's male from this year.

Cherubim- Frontline

Monokini is fricken wicked. In love with it. The hanging decorations throughout the front of the monokini would blind people on the road with all that sparkle. The headpiece and backpack all look like one whole complete element which is very cute. Only problem is how this would look of certain skin tones.

Backline

Talk about a wicked backline? One of the stand out backlines in the entire band and for the season so far. Love the necklace thingy inter-twining with the bra. The bra is suffering from a bling overload but who don't want to suffer from bling overload? Headpiece is cute and the belt looks full.

Male

This costume grabs my attention. The belt looks well made but the chest piece again reminds me of YUMA but I love it.

Dominions- Individual

Individual same as the frontline just larger in wings and some pheasant feathers. If something was added by da tummy area this costume would look complete. Although the costume is beautiful, its one of the weak ones in the band.

Frontline

Love the colour combo of I think teal and bronze. The arm pieces for a moment looked like wings lol. Cute but not a big fan off.

Backline

Backline exceeds backlines standards.

Male

Pretty generic.

Ophanim- Frontline

Omg i fricken loveeeeeee this costume! Though the 1st teaser was released long time, I never got bored of seeing this granted it was released so long. Love the fierce headband, and although black, the colours on bra and panty are bess! Digging the chains on the belt, the bejeweled panty and adore the way it matches the design on the bra.

Backline

Wicked, neat and pretty. The bra should have a little more work added to it and the headpiece looks like Richard and Anthony signature backline works also. The belt is too chunky.

Male

Against black costumes but chest piece again is YUMA, and YUMA oracle to be exact.

Powers- Frontline

Elegant monokini and arm piece! Those feathers look amazing! Its very showgirl-ish.

Backline

Headpiece looks tauraus-ish. The belt design is weird but atleast its not skimpy. The bra is out of this world though don't kno what material that is if its sequins or what but awesome look! Looks clean and fresh.


Male

Lame!!!


Principalities- Frontline

Beads look like bullets!!! Loveee the braaa and the way the beads face a diagonal direction plays with the eyes in a really nice way! Bling overloead; lots of sparkles on the road. Baby wings but the headpiece makes up for it. Belt is very intricate.


Backline

Lovely bra! Beading brings out the pink and the belt is super colourful and really nice. Headpiece is great like the beading at the peak. Another stand out backline. Bra design is familiar but still wicked.


Rulers- Frontline

Love the colour and collar lol. The headband is spakrly and cute. Asymmetric backpiece very different and creative. This is a very stand out feature of this costume. Bra is very intricate and designed till materials were ran out. Only fault is that the belt just need additions.

Backline

Backline looks rich, The different designed cup really is not usually done to the pleasure of the eyes but this one was well done. Bl headpiece is wow, looks like R+A works again. Belt is ok.

Male

This male looks a bit scrappy.

Seraphim- Individual

Individual is a bling overload again and large wings =  bacanal on the road. The use of the green to contrast was needed otherwise we would think its big bird sexy sister on the road.

Frontline

Very Victoria Secret-ish. Mixture of green and yellow brings out the costume again. Leg pieces look like D Krewe's Flight from last year though. Love the decorations on the bra and the decorations hanging also. If it wasn't for the decoration hanging, the belt would be pretty bland.

Backline

Bl bra is simple and also the belt. Like the footpiece though.


Male

In love with this ale also but why can't the male get a waistband of more substance. Males skimpy now?


Thrones- Individual

Bra is Blinged out and is that a butterfly headband? Cute.  Looks like oracle bigger sexy sister with the use of the peacock feathers on the wings and the actual purple colour itself. The belt would cause blindness on the road when the sun hits.


Backline

Bl is wickedddddd... Bra is amazing but reminds me of oracle again. The headpiece is different in a good way.


Male

Love the colour and thats basically it. Not a bad costume though.


Virtues- Frontline

Frontline monokini is f***** fierce. Love the collar and headpiece. The monokini reminds me of Cyprus because of the colour, the double string effect, monokini and wings.

Backline

Backlines get a lot of options form this section. Lots of substance. The collar is nice for a backline option, bra is well decorated but the belt missing something to look complete.

Male

Generic.

Principalities, Thrones, Angels, Arch Angels, Cherubim, Ophanim, Rulers and Authorities are the top pics for Fantasy in no particular order.

Lots of rumours are surrounding Fantasy and their registration process and prices but whatever happens in the dark comes to light so the truth would be out soon.
